A century ago in Portugal terra cotta found in the soil was free for the potter's taking. Function was primary, the intrinsic beauty of thoughtful handmade work visible in each piece. In the mid 20th C. painters introduced decorative painting to the potters, and table-ware production was born. For close to 30 years we have witnessed traditions maintained with adaptions to the ever changing market of the 21C. Portuguese potters are resilient as well as adaptive, the high quality of work consistent.
